1/22/2015 0 Comments January Week ThreeThis week was an extension of our work last week. We applied our opinions and vocabulary about etiquette and manners to a classic advice column, Miss Manners.
LISTENING To practice your listening skills, learners could try a listening exercise about tipping etiquette. For original version, try listening to an etiquette advice podcast: Modern Manners, Slate's Manners for the Digital Age, or MannersCast. READING Learners can try a simple reading exercise that tests your etiquette. How did you do? Or try the quiz have you got good manners? For original version reading, try reading one of the popular etiquette advice columns, such as the classicMiss Manners to the NY Times' Social Qs. WRITING You have a few options for this week's writing. You can either respond to one of Miss Manner's advice column letters yourself and give your own opinion. Or, watch one of the animations from Hoops and Yoyo and describe what should and shouldn't be done in those situations. READING Learners can try reading an article about Good Manners, Bad Manners (also availble as a listening exercise). For original version reading, try an article about how to be a Modern Mr. Manners. WRITING Are you ready to get back in the swing of things with writing? This week, please write about how you think you could raise children to be polite and courteous.
