6/6/2015 0 Comments June Week One![]() First off, a couple of housekeeping issues. Our last class for the 2014-2015 school year will be Tuesday June 30th. Don't forget to bring back any materials (magazines, books, DVDs) before that date. I will be sending sign up information for next year in the coming weeks! LISTENING To practice your listening skills, learners can try one of several VOA Words and their Stories mp3s: Numbers, Number One, Number Phrases. For original version, try some of the TED Talks about Math, or Radiolab's episode Numbers. READING Learners can try any of the VOA listening stories above that are accompanied by text of the article, or a quiz about idioms with numbers. For original version reading, try an article about the history of counting rhymes or the What If blog that tackles big questions (and sometimes big numbers). WRITING This week we used the Harper's Index to discuss some numbers and statistics about various topics. Now try writing some of your own statistics about your life. Try using percentages, ratios, and totals to express your quantifiable life. Best, Kelly
